Dr. Mauthner is the Chief Nursing Officer at Felix Platter Hospital for geriatric medicine in Basel, Switzerland. He also works as a scientific collaborator at the Institute of Nursing Science, at the Medical Faculty, University of Basel. He has a strong clinical background in cardiology and solid organ transplantation, having worked as an Advanced Practice Nurse for numerous years at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. His research focuses on the issue of aging in the transplant population. His current work employs the concept of frailty and mild cognitive impariment, which provides a relevant framework to map issues within the ‘age-quake’ in transplantation.
