Eduardo Miñambres, Intensivist at Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (Santander, Spain) from June 2002. PhD in Medicine from the University of Cantabria (2002).
Head of the Transplant Coordination Unit at Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital from January 2011. Associate Professor at University of Cantabria (Spain).

Research: Initially focused on apoptotic biomarkers in acute brain injured patients. Since 2009, researches moved towards brain death, organ donation and lung transplantation. In particular: 1) development of brain dead donor management therapies focused on increasing the number of thoracic grafts available for transplantation, 2) the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) devices as tool to ameliorate the ischemic damage in donors after circulatory death, 3) initial postoperative treatment in lung recipients
Research lines have been funded in competitive national calls: 6 as PI, author of 80 works indexed in PubMed (H-Index: 17), 8 directed PhD projects.
