Dr. Edward A. Dominguez obtained his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, USA where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He was appointed Chief Medical Resident of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Houston, and subsequently completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Baylor.

After leaving Baylor, Dr. Dominguez joined the faculties of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, USA. At UNMC, he helped establish the Transplant Infectious Disease program and was Associate Professor of Medicine and Surgery. He returned to Texas as a founding member of East Texas Infectious Disease Consultants in Tyler. While there, he served as a member of the Kidney Transplant team at East Texas Medical Center. Since 2008, Dr. Dominguez has served as Medical Director, Organ Transplant Infectious Disease at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA.

Dr. Dominguez is a Fellow of American College of Physicians and the Infectious Disease Society of America. He is a Member of the American Society of Transplantation, Texas Transplant Society, Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association and serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Transplantation and Liver Transplantation and Surgery. He has authored  numerous manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals regarding transplant and general infectious disease. He has served on the Disease Transmission Advisory Committee and on the Minority Affairs Committee for the United Network of Organ Sharing. He has also served on the Clinical Affairs Committee and the Education Committee for IDSA.
