Associate Professor Angela Webster is a Nephrologist and Transplant Physician, and a Clinical Epidemiologist, and splits her time working as a Staff Specialist in renal medicine and transplantation at Westmead Hospital in Sydney and as an Associate Professor in clinical epidemiology at the University of Sydney. She is Executive Officer of the Australia and New Zealand Islet and Pancreas Transplant Registry, and past chair and current member of the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant registry (ANZDATA) Cancer working group. She is deputy chair of the New South Wales Transplant Advisory Committee, and Chair of the Scientific Program and Education Committee (SPEC) of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology. She holds the post of funding arbiter for Cochrane, and has a particular interest in research integrity in biomedical publishing. Angela is an editor for Cochrane Kidney and Transplant, Transplantaiton and Nephrology. Angela has an active clinical research program, and themes include the interaction of chronic diseases, specifically kidney disease, cancer, cardiovascular disease and infection. The focus of her research is always on helping clinical decision making by presenting complex data as simply as possible to aid clinician and patient discussions, and to make better use of existing data. This program is helped by her methodological expertise; critical exploration of randomized trial methodology, design and quality in studies of diagnostic and prognostic accuracy, application of advanced statistical concepts in meta-analysis, the manipulation and analysis of large datasets, the methods and application of linkage of large national databases, and design and interpretation of cohort studies. In 2015 Angela was awarded the Ian McKenzie Prize for outstanding contribution in transplantation, by the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand.
